Há uns tempos atrás alguém me falou que era má ideia deixar o suporte com ventosa do GPS colado no vidro do carro pois isso chamaria os ladrões a assaltar o carro á procura do GPS no porta luvas ou atrás do banco do carro. Até mesmo a marca no vidro da ventosa seria chamativo. Eu nunca deixo ficar o GPS no carro, mas não ficaria contente de ver um vidro partido ou uma fechadura da porta forçada.
Verdade ou não decidi não usar o suporte com a ventosa e fabricar um suporte para o meu GPS.
O material que usei para fabricar o suporte foi PolyMorph. Um material muito facil de lidar. Moldável a temperaturas de 60/70ºC e à temperatura ambiente fica muito duro e resistente com caracteristicas muito semelhantes ao nylon.
Ele é vendido em granulado pois é mais facil "derreter" quando está em pequenos pedaços.
Sometime ago someone told me about being a bad idea to leave the windshield GPS mount in the car because it would attract the attention of burglars to break in and search for the gps in the glove compartment or behind the seats. Even the mark of the suction mount on the glass would be enough. I never leave my GPS in the car but i would not be happy to see a broken window or a damaged door.
Being true or not i decided not to use the suction mount and make my own GPS mount.
The material used was polymorph. This is a material easy to work with. Melts at temperatures of arround 60/70ºC and at room temperature it gets rock solid and very tough like nylon.
It's sold in a granular form to be able to melt very easly.
Para a estrutura principal peguei no suporte intermédio do GPS e derreti um grande pedaço e moldei o corpo principal.
For the main structure i tooked the edge of the GPS mount and melted a big part and moulded it.
A peça moldada tem de segurar o suporte intermédio do GPS. O GPS depois ficará fixo nesse suporte intermédio.
The molded part has to hold the edge of the GPS mount and not the GPS it self. The GPS will then be held by this black part.
Próximo passo é fazer 2 réguas que vão ser responsáveis por segurar toda a estrutura ao carro.
Next step is to make 2 bars that will hold all this structure to the car.
Aqui as 2 réguas foram derretidas ( bem como a peça principal ) para serem unidas.
O aspecto ainda é muito grotesco nesta etapa... a fase de acabamento estético só será feita no final.
The 2 bars were melt ( and also the main part ) to be bonded together.
The looks are still awful...but the finishing step is at the end.

Bem visivel o meu GPS Ndrive 300 e com acesso ás fichas laterais, cartão de memória, etc.
Já fiz vários percursos com ele mesmo em estradas difíceis e ele manteve-se sempre impecável e sem sair do sítio 1milímetro e não abana ( ao contrário do suporte original ).
I have a great view of my GPS Ndrive 300 and with full access to the side connections, memory card, etc.
I've made several trips with it and driving through very bad roads and it kept always in place, not moving an inch and it does not shake ( like the original one ).
